ANNAPOLIS OPERA FUNDRAISER “CELEBRATE OPERA” Features Wine, Food, and Song
Annapolis Opera Company will hold a fundraiser, “Celebrate Opera,” featuring fine wine, great food, and outstanding arias by two of opera’s rising stars. The event will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, at wine Cellars of Annapolis at Clock Tower Place.
The event features wine with commentary provided by the staff of Wine Cellars and fine cuisine from Tastings Gourmet Market, Praline Bakery, My Butcher and More, and Claire Owens Catering.
A highlight of the evening will be a brief operatic performance by Jason Steans, a baritone who sings principal roles at the Metropolitan Opera, and Annapolis Opera audience favorite Colleen Daly, hailed by critics as a “glistening soprano.” Mr. Stearns will also be the featured performer in the company’s season opening concert, “Concert of Stars,” on October 23.
“This fundraiser will support Annapolis Opera’s upcoming 38th season, which features three opera concerts, a children’s opera, a fully staged production of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, and the 23rd Annual Vocal Competition,” says Event Chair Bob Libson. “Ticket revenue covers only half of our costs, so those attending this event will not only have a wonderful evening but help keep live opera a vital part of life in Maryland’s Capital City.”
Event sponsors are What’s Up Media; Hyatt & Weber, P.A.; Whitmore Group; Watermark; Emerging Communications; and Wine Cellars of Annapolis.
Tickets for “Celebrate Opera” are $125 each and are available by calling 410-267-8135 or contacting admin@annapolisopera.org.
